Bits 'n pieces over the years...

Since 2018, the Holy Spirit, through the ministry of SmaqQ, has shown us how to bless people and the MCC community. Reflecting on God's goodness and guidance over the years is a powerful reminder of His faithfulness, and I pray it will inspire us to continue in the same way. Often, it's not about the grand gestures, but in the small, everyday acts that God can use to make a difference. Just like the boy who offered Jesus five loaves of bread and two fish, and with those small gifts, Jesus fed five thousand.

Testimonials

Before coming to SmaqQ, I was scared of everything (I could never speak in front of anyone, I would keep everything to myself) through SmaqQ I overcame one of my biggest insecurities, which was speaking English and interacting with people. Through SmaqQ I learnt many new things, in fact it has opened my eyes, I have developed a strong faith in Jesus. I couldn’t be more grateful in my life. Mr Mason and Mrs Zelenak have taught me many new things, they helped me like a friend when I was in need. They taught me values; they shared their life experiences from which I learnt many things. One of biggest value that I will remember forever is not to give up on life. SmaqQ is fun, it brings everyone together. It spreads love and faith. I’m very much grateful to be part of Smaqq.

SMAQQ has been wonderful, it has allowed me to get to know people in different year levels than my own, as well as ask questions about God and general life questions. One of the sessions I particularly enjoyed was on the Holy Spirit. Learning that the Holy Spirit is referred to as both feminine and masculine was really interesting. The teachers at SMAQQ are amazing and open to talk and be asked questions!

My experiences of SMAQQ in 2020

Students from Year 7 to Year 12 regularly come along to SMAQQ, or for this year have joined the online conferences. I enjoy the weekly discussions and student opinions. We always look at what the Bible says, be it friendship, faith or helping other people. On occasions the students have written to people who have been jailed for their faith in Jesus. Jesus encourages us all to pray for these people and do what we can to encourage them to trust him in their time of need while in prison.

Other topics have included, growing up in this modern world that rejects Christianity and instead seeks personal pleasure and fame. We are always encouraged to trust what the Bible says, refute worldly ideals and trust Jesus with our future. Another enjoyable part of SMAQQ meetings is when Mrs Zelenak organises foodie treats for all attendees.

Mr John Eddy

SMAQQ is such an insightful and educative space, where all are welcome to hear and learn the word of God. SMAQQ gives the opportunity to all participants to delve into certain themes and aspects of the Holy Bible. A large aspect of SMAQQ is the intriguing discussions we have about Jesus and how we can hear and spread his ideas and wishes amongst our society. SMAQQ is also an activist group where we address particular issues in our local and broader community, and decide on the appropriate and positive actions that we can implement.

SMAQQ encompasses so many things, it is an inclusive, positive and encouraging space that allows for reflection and action.

SMAQQ is a great space to talk about community and world issues. I especially enjoy the conversations with others and all the snacks that accompany it! Mr Mason and Mrs Zelenak do a fantastic job of setting it up each week. I always love to go and it’s always so interesting.

In your world I have another name...
You must learn to know me by that name.
This was the very reason why you were brought to Narnia, that knowing me here for a little, you may know me better there.
